I just joined this community, I hope it's okay :)
I'm from Finland and the sauna in there is maybe a bit different. We go to sauna naked but the public saunas are always separated for women and men. :) Almost everyone has a sauna at home and it's not considered as a luxory.
And about the sauna gnome.. It lives in the sauna and keeps it clean and you should respect it! (And also clean the sauna yourself.)
